# nv.deleteList

Delete one of your Sales Navigator lead or account lists, keeping its leads or accounts saved.

> The API Reference is also the SDK and CLI reference. Consecutive code fences marked `tab=HTTP`, `tab=Node`, `tab=Python` and `tab=CLI` are the same call on each surface (a fence marked `tab=HTTP,CLI` is the same text for both), and a block between `:::surface <names>` and `:::` applies only to the surfaces it names. Identifiers in the text are written as in Node and in HTTP JSON (camelCase); the Python SDK spells methods, parameters and result attributes in snake_case (`sendMessage` → `send_message`, `reconnectionLink` → `reconnection_link`), while names inside HTTP JSON stay camelCase.

Delete one of your lead lists or account lists in Sales Navigator. Only the list is deleted: its leads or accounts stay saved and stay in their other lists.

An active Sales Navigator subscription is required. To find a list's ID, call [`nv.retrieveLists`](/docs/action-nv-retrieve-lists).

:::surface node,python
In the SDK this is the `nvDeleteList` method. It takes the parameters below except `label`, which exists only in workflow JSON. It returns no `data`: a failed action comes back in `errors`, with one of the error types below.
:::

:::surface cli
The command is `linkedin navigator lists delete`. Its argument is listed below.

## Constraints

> ⏺️ **Root Start:** allowed.

> ⬆️ **Parent Actions:** N/A.

> ⬇️ **Child Actions:** N/A.

## Parameters

```json tab=HTTP
{
  "actionType": "nv.deleteList",
  "label": "deleteEmeaLeads",
  "listId": "7420000000000000004"
}
```

```typescript tab=Node
const workflow = await linkedapi.nvDeleteList.execute({
  listId: "7420000000000000004"
});
const { errors } = await linkedapi.nvDeleteList.result(workflow.workflowId);
```

```python tab=Python
from linkedapi import NvDeleteListParams
workflow = linkedapi.nv_delete_list.execute(
    NvDeleteListParams(
        list_id="7420000000000000004",
    )
)
result = linkedapi.nv_delete_list.result(workflow.workflow_id)
```

```bash tab=CLI
linkedin navigator lists delete 7420000000000000004 --json
```

In AI assistants, the MCP tool is `nv_delete_list`. The n8n action is **Delete list in Sales Navigator**; the Make module is **Delete List in Sales Navigator**.

| Parameter | Description |
| --- | --- |
| `label` | Optional label included in workflow completion. |
| `listId` | Required. ID of one of your lead or account lists, as returned in `id` by [`nv.retrieveLists`](/docs/action-nv-retrieve-lists) or [`nv.createList`](/docs/action-nv-create-list). Pass it as a string; a number is rejected. This is the only parameter: do not pass `type`, which is rejected as an unknown field. |

Invalid parameters are rejected with `invalidWorkflow` before the workflow starts.

:::surface cli
| Arg | Required | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `list-id` | yes | ID of one of your lead or account lists |

## Deleting behaviour

- **Only the list.** The list with this `listId` is deleted, and nothing else. Its leads or accounts stay saved and stay in any other lists they are in. Sales Navigator's own delete dialog can also unsave the list's members; Linked API always keeps them saved. To unsave members, use [`nv.unsaveLead`](/docs/action-nv-unsave-lead) or [`nv.unsaveAccount`](/docs/action-nv-unsave-account) for each of them.
- **Exactly the list you name.** The list is found by its ID, so another list with the same name is never touched.
- **System lists cannot be deleted.** Sales Navigator offers no Delete for its own lists, such as Recommended Leads and My Current Accounts. Passing one of their IDs fails with `listNotDeletable`, and nothing is deleted.
- **Only your own lists.** `listId` must be a list you own, as returned by [`nv.retrieveLists`](/docs/action-nv-retrieve-lists). A list someone else shared with you, or an ID that is not one of your lists, fails with `listNotFound`.
- **Deleting twice.** A list that is already deleted is no longer one of your lists, so deleting it again fails with `listNotFound`.
- **English interface only, for now.** This is a current limitation: creating and deleting lists work only with an English Sales Navigator interface. On a German, Spanish, French or Portuguese interface, the call fails with `interfaceLanguageNotSupported`.

To create a list, use [`nv.createList`](/docs/action-nv-create-list).

## Result options

```json
{
  "actionType": "nv.deleteList",
  "label": "deleteEmeaLeads",
  "success": true
}
```

A successful delete has no `data`. `label` is included only if specified in the action parameters.

## Error result

An unsuccessful action returns `success: false` with an `error` object:

```json
{
  "actionType": "nv.deleteList",
  "label": "deleteEmeaLeads",
  "success": false,
  "error": {
    "type": "listNotDeletable",
    "message": "This Sales Navigator list cannot be deleted."
  }
}
```

Possible `error.type` values:

- `noSalesNavigator` — the account does not have an active Sales Navigator subscription.
- `listNotFound` — `listId` is not one of your lead or account lists. This includes a list that is already deleted and a list someone else shared with you. Nothing is deleted.
- `listNotDeletable` — the list is one of your lists, but Sales Navigator does not allow deleting it, as with system lists such as Recommended Leads and My Current Accounts. Nothing is deleted.
- `interfaceLanguageNotSupported` — the account's Sales Navigator interface is German, Spanish, French or Portuguese rather than English. Nothing is deleted; this is a current limitation (see above).
- `unexpectedError` — the list could not be deleted.
